Berger Express Painting IndiBlogger Meet, Kolkata
Berger Express Painting IndiBlogger Meet
Oberoi Grand, Kolkata, 12 Sept. 2015
Lead by Anoop of IndiBlogger, a group of about 90 odd bloggers from Kolkata erupted with the shout “ich will,” I joined the crowed but had no idea what the two words meant.
Later (courtesy: Google) I came to know that “ich will” is a German phrase meaning I want, and we really wanted an IndiBlogger Meet. A IndiBlogger meet was long due and finally after a gap of over four years it finally happened.
Finally on 12 September 4:00 pm at the Ball Room of Oberoi Grand Hotel in Kolktta the wait was finally over. The Berger Express Painting IndiBlogger Meet was a welcome relief for the Bloggers from Kolkata.
The last major IndiBlogger Meet happened about four and half years ago in Kolkata, just a few months before I entered into the world of blogging. So it was my first IndiBlogger Meet and obviously I was super excited.
At about 3:45 I took the grand staircase to the Ball Room in Grand Hotel, with fellow bloggers Sumit and Indrajit.
A small crowd had already gathered and were patiently waiting for the registration. Soon familiar faces started turning up Poorna, Rajdeep, Dolon, Tuhin, Mahua, Anindya, Anamitra, Upamanya, Subhadeep, Sammyabrata and Preeti but most were unfamiliar faces. It was also great to meet fellow blogger Maniparna for the first time.
It was also great to meet the IndiBlogger team of Anoop, Renie, Karthik DR, Vineet and Saurav, familiar names from fellow blogger Anuradha Goyal‘s book The Mouse Charmers.
Soon unfamiliar faces started becoming familiar, as blog URls were exchanged and bloggers posed for photographs, along with selfies, at the Berger Paint podium.
But it was soon time for business and it all started with the “ich will” shouts. After that some samples of the Photo Tweet Contest were displayed and the photographer explained the concept of their photo. It was soon over with the announcement and distribution of prizes.
Next was the introduction session. Only a handful of bloggers, among the 90 odd ones, got to introduced themselves and luckily I was one of them. I not only shared my blogging experience but also was allowed to share my Wikipedia experience.
The first session ended with a short video by Berger paints, which introduced the bloggers to the colourfull and hassle free world of Berger Express Painting.
Soon it was time for a tea break and the tea came along with a wide assortment of finger food, both veg and non – veg.
Sadly there was no cocktails but that was not enough to dampen the spirits of the bloggers.
Subhadeep and Indrajeet decided to replace their cocktail glasses with with jars of orchid, no wonder bloggers are innovative people and the duos innovation continued late into the night.
Soon we were back in the hall for the second session.
As per instruction we divided ourselves into groups consisting of a maximum of eight people.
Bloggers always have their own idea and our group had nine bloggers and even the tenth one joined later.
There were a total of 10 groups and we called ourselves Kolkata Palette.
Soon the group building activity was explained and each group was assigned two tasks.
The teams went into a short but heated round table conference and were soon ready for the first task.
The first task really involved getting our hands dirty and for that we were provided with surgical gloves, caps and masks.
The task involved cleaning of a wooden board with sand papers and the team that did it properly in the least time were the winner.
It was a dusty experience but had we used the Berger Express Painting techniques it would would have been an dust free as well as hassle free experience.
After dusting it was time to paint but it was no ordinary painting. According to the rules the painting needs to carry a social message and it needed to be explained after the painting is completed.
Sourav, one of the youngest members in you group, took the initiative and the message was “killing of female embryos.”
I am a person, who always keeps himself away from painting. So I spent the time watching other paints and chatting with non painter bloogers.
It was soon time for prizes and our (please excuse me from the word “our”) painting titled “Silent Scream” turned out to be the winner. We all received a portable speaker from Sony.
There were other prizes too. The best tweet of the day and also the photo of the day and finally it was time for the grand dinner.
Sorry guys there have been no photos of the food, because the food was so excellent, that only thing I would do was to eat!!!
A big thank you to IndiBlogger and Berger Paint for the Berger Express Painting IndiBlogger Meet, Kolkata. My fellow bloggers deserves something more than thanks.
