Dear Rangan, thank you very much for your kind advice and guidance. I visited St. John’s Church (Kolkata) on 11-01-2014. The place is wonderful, history everywhere. Fabulous old pipe organ. Also had the privilage of meeting Mr. Johnny Purty, the organ player himself. What do the paintings of coats of arms on the walls (each with a skull painted underneath) signify? Bhaskar Majumdar

Dear Mr, Rangan Datta!
My name is Willi Suter. (my e-mail is wpsuter@gmail.com). I live in Switzerland and have visited India several times before. Now I want to see more of West Bengal.
Congratulations to your highly interesting and beautifully illustrated brick temple reports. I intend to visit some of the places you presented in your travel logue in November.
Maybe you can help me to optimize my trip. Is it possible to see all the temples in Bishnupur in one day or should I reserve more time. I want to take many photographs, which takes time as you know.
How can I reserve a car in Rampurhat to visit Maluti, in Bishnupur to visit the temples in the surrounding sites and, if possible in Katwa to visit Sribati. Are there enough taxis that would be willing to take me on a one-day trip? Do you have any addresses I could use (telephone is possibly difficult, because I do not speak Bengali)?
Mr. Rangan, could you kindly help me find PL Roy’s current family address? It is urgent
I came across your website while searching for few contacts, and I was inspired by your interview to telegraph. I wish to follow a similar path myself, I love traveling and recently I have started writing my own blog, photography is my passion so I use my own pictures to tell a story, I know you are busy but I was hoping we could chat, I would love to hear your stories and get some expert tips. Although I know that no number of tips can make a traveler if it’s not within, still i would be honord if you consider my plea for an one on one talk. this is the link to my blog http://pother-e-tikotha.blogspot.in/
Thank you

Hello i am from Bow Barracks, Calcutta now residing in Australia. Wondering if there is a way i can find out how old Bow Barracks is and if it can be heritage listed and what are the PROS & CONS of doing the same if eligible.
Thanks Christopher. The barracks came up during the WWI (1914 – 18) and was built for American solders.
Presently it is under Kolkata Improvement Trust and probably under Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) Heritage list.
The heritage laws in our country is very complicated and frnakly apeaking I do have no idea about the PROS & CONS of a heritage property.
Hii, your blogs are really amazing. Even I want to learn how to write blogs please help me out. I m student of EMPI and I came to know about you by my teacher Dr. Premashish Roy . He said that you are the right person who can help me. So please do reply sir.
Dear Sana, please forward my Diwali Greetings to Premashish sir.
It is very easy to start a blog, you need to register with blogspot or wordpress (I would prefer wordpress). It is just like opening a FB account and then you have to start writing.
Although it is very easy to open a blog with it is extremely difficult maintaining it. Creating interesting and unique content on a regular basis is not an easy task.
So before you start identify your areas of interest and your strong points. Set yourself a target like one post a week or one post in two weeks, Before you start keep some article ready.
Any more quarries do sent me a mail at rangan@rangan-datta.info

Sir, just wanted to let you know I am a big fan of your work.
I have a small Youtube channel – Adriv Wanderlust. I intend to make videos on certain lost places of West Bengal you have covered. Hats off to you Sir!
Hi Rangan,
I absolutely love your work. It is inspiring to see such a comprehensive coverage of historic Chinese temples that are on the brink of obscurity. Hope I still have the chance to get a glimpse of it before these places crumble away into the abyss of time. I love the detail on the Toong On Church which you gave as the years passed by… A small little observational story of its own 🙂 Fantastic blog that I wish I’d have found years ago. Will make sure to go through your whole blog.
Thanks for your efforts.
Lots of admiration and respect…
Abhi
Thanks keep reading and inspiring
Thank you for a most interesting blog on the military semaphore towers in Bengal. I saw no mention of the sepaphore tower in the grounds of Flagstaff House, Barrackpore, West Bengal which I visited three years ago. Is there any reason for not including it? I would like to hear from you in this regard. Best regards, Peter R. Moore
