The second edition of the Apeejay Bangla Sahitya Utsav (ABSU) kicked off with the Bengali Literary Heritage Bus Tour, held on 16 Oct. 2016.

I was privileged enough to lead a group of about 60 eminent Kolkatans, including eminent writer and columnist Ranjan Bandhopadhyay, through the winding streets of north Kolkata past the houses of stalwarts of Bengali literature.

On 13 May 1856 a steamer, name McLeod, docked at the Bichali Ghat in Metibruz, in the southern fringes of Calcutta (now Kolkata). On board was the disposed king of Oudh (or Awadh) Wajid Ali Shah.

After the grand success of Happy Street, the Calcutta Times of The Times of India started their next project of Passion Clubs.

A Photowalk along Chitpur Road, Kolkata (Calcutta)

Bonga Local, Gede Local, Rangahat Local are all local trains originating from the Sealdah Station in Kolkata (Calcutta). There is no Chitpur Local and it is quiet obvious as Chitpur is a neighborhood located within Kolkata (Calcutta).

Its the first Saturday of October and its time for the Scott Kelby Worldwide Photowalk.  Scott Kelby, photographer and photo editor, have been organizing photowalks worldwide since 2008. Held on the the first Saturday of October Scott Kelby’s photowalk is organized in all the major cities of the world and attracts thousands of photo enthusiast. The 2013 version of Scott Kelby’s Worldwide Photowalk consisted of 1238 walk with 28648 participants.

Since the last year Calcutta (Kolkata) has been on the Scott Kelby’ Worlwide Photowalk map and 2013 saw two separate walks in Calcutta (Kolkata). I decided to join the walk in North Calcutta (Kolkata) lead by Manjit Singh Hoonjan.
